An individual prescription

Start with the prescription.
Include the person.

A useful compounding conversation brings together the prescription and the practical details of taking it. Tell our team about difficulty with a dosage form, relevant allergies or ingredient sensitivities, and questions you would like to discuss with your prescriber.

Our services include selected sterile eye drops, creams and gels, oral liquids and lozenges. The suitability of a formulation depends on pharmacist assessment and applicable requirements.

Understanding the standards

What quality in compounding involves.

Ontario has adopted NAPRA compounding standards. They address personnel, facilities, preparation procedures, documentation and quality assurance. The requirements depend on the type of preparation.

  • Formulation and documentation

A compounded preparation needs an appropriate formulation, preparation records and checks against the prescription. These records support traceability and review.

  • The preparation environment

Sterile compounding requires aseptic techniques and controls for the environment, equipment and personnel. Non-sterile compounding also has defined requirements, informed by the preparation’s risks and complexity.

  • Information that goes home with you

The container, label, storage instructions and beyond-use date are part of the preparation. Follow the instructions supplied with your medication and ask a pharmacist if anything is unclear.

Patient questions

Helpful details before you call.

Ask our pharmacist about your own medication and formulation needs.

Can an ingredient or dosage form be changed?

Ask our team about the proposed change. A pharmacist needs to assess the formulation and coordinate with your prescriber where required. An option that works for one prescription may not suit another.

What does the beyond-use date mean?

It is the date or time after which the compounded preparation should no longer be used. Follow the date and storage directions on your label; contact the pharmacy with questions about your preparation.

How do I ask about a specific preparation?

Patients can call 905-240-8881. Prescribers and pharmacy professionals can call 647-878-7190. Please confirm the appropriate submission arrangements before sending patient information.
